Book cover design for The Square Root of Lassitude.
Capturing the quirky, enticing, and suspenseful story of The Square Root of Lassitude through a completely un-edited book cover. The set consisted of a series of six transparencies with painted letters, hung on a rig of string. Lighting was created with a flashlight and a standard classroom projector.
Below are pictures of the set. The final design was very simple, but allowed for a wide variety of results based upon the time of day, light or image projected through, and space between the sheets. The set consisted of six transparency sheets, hung on two strings. The type was hand–painted with white acrylic paint, with parts of words on different transparencies, creating a dimensional and dynamic effect.
