Type Hike

Created a typographic poster honoring Canyonlands National Park for Type Hike.

Type Hike is a collaborative design project of 60 designers and typographers, each of whom was asked to create a unique design for a park they love in celebration of the National Parks Service centennial in August 2016.

The letterforms were inspired by the horizontal and vertical nature of the rock formations in the park. The formations are at times maze-like, which is reflected in the typography as well. The design was created, then a rubbing of it was made to mimic rock rubbings of avid explorers and rock enthusiasts.

This piece was featured in Fast Company, Communication Arts, and Thought & Sight.
